Jamiat Condemns Communal violence in Bihar and Bengal

March 30, 2018

New Delhi, March, 30, 2017:- Maulana Mahmood Madani, General Secretary of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind while expressing deep concern over communal riots in West Bengal and Bihar has demanded the state and central government take every possible steps for restoring peace and amity in disturbed areas.

Maulana Madani maintained that if required action had been taken against Arjit Shaswat-- son of Union Minister who is accused of Bhagalpur riots, ensuing communal flare-ups would not have spread in Nalanda, Aurangabad, and Samastipur etc.

Maulana Madani exhorted religious and social leaders of the majority community to come forward for thwarting nefarious designs of communal forces who are hell-bent on polarizing society on religious ground.

Maulana Madani while questioning commitment of Bihar Government against corruption and communalism said that only lip service will not serve the desired purpose until practical steps are taken. He suggested that situation could not be restored to normalcy until the supremacy of law is held and culprits are brought to book. Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind has consistently demanded that district administration should be held accountable for outbreak of communal riots and adequate financial compensation should be given to the affected persons. If this is followed during riots, the sudden control of riots is very much likely.

Maulana Madani also praised Asansol Bengal’s mosque imam Maulana Imdadullah Rasheedi for displaying exemplary courage and sacrifice who despite losing his son of sixteen year age did not allow local population to take any provocative action in retaliation. He exhorted the emotional congregation that he did not want any more families to lose their loved ones.

Maulana Madani appealed to all Muslims to tackle such communally provocative situation with patience, forbearance and tenacity. He also asked Muslim to work in collaboration with local likeminded fellow-country to fail the nefarious designs of the communal forces. He appealed to local cadres and office bearers of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind to work for restoring peace in communally disturbed areas and extend their cooperation to the riot victims.
