New Delhi, April 25,2018:
In a reaction to verdict of a fast-track court in Jharkhand’s Bokaro district awarding life imprisonment to 10 persons convicted of lynching Shamsuddin Ansari, Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind General Secretary Maulana Mahmod Madani called it a ray of hope for containing hateful atmosphere in the country.
He said that for the last few years, Muslims and Dalit community have been facing many cases of mob-lynching with the state and district administration colluding with the anti-social elements. In several parts of the country, these fringe elements have done so with the impression that they are above the law and they do not have any remorse for their shameful activities.
Maulana Madani expressed hope that this verdict would discourage them and would teach them a lesson. Maulana Madani also demanded the Chief Minister of Jharkhand announce adequate financial compensation to the family members who lost their dear one and ensure that such incidents shall not be repeated in future.
